

BIOGRAPHY
Nia Pretto, a New Jersey native began her dance training at just 3 years old at Ms. Carol's school of dance learning ballet, tap, and jazz. Later she attended Princeton Ballet School and Body & Music School of Performing Arts where she began training in various dance forms such as latin dance, pointe, swing dance, and more. Nia also joined Princeton Girl Choir and her high school choir which allowed her to go on tour to Trinidad & Tobago, Italy, Switzerland, France, Ireland, and more. Nia additionally started teaching ballet, tap, beginner jazz, and creative movement at the age of 14 at the Body & Music School of Performing Arts.
Nia graduated in December of 2022 from Towson University with a BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography and a B.S. in Exercise Science. Here she worked closely with faculty such as Runqiao Du, Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell, Catherine Horta-Hayden, Vincent Thomas, and Caroline Rocher-Barnes. While in Baltimore, Nia joined the Pasion Latin Dance team where they have performed her choreography at the New York International Salsa Congress for the last two years.
Ever since, Nia has continued to go out social dancing while based in Baltimore and now in New York. Nia additionally attended the Steps on Broadway Conservatory where she performed works by Jaryd Farcon, Kenna Morris-Garcia, and Heather Lang at the Joyce Theater and Manhattan Movement Arts.
Nia is currently dancing on the Pre-Professional salsa team "Tumbao," for Huracan Dance Studio and is certified in CPR/AED, Personal Training (NASM), and RYT-250hrs. She most recently showed and performed her collaborative work "Feminine Soul" at the Baltimore Black Choreographer's Festival. Nia continues to educate herself on the African Diaspora and incorporating the movements, history, and culture into higher education and high art spaces.
